Has the Kop just created a new Christmas hit single about Liverpool’s run of festive fixtures?
The Premier League released the fixtures for 2019/2020 and had fans scrambling to read who their team would be playing and when – but have the Reds just created the new Chrimbo chart topper?
It’s been revealed that Everton will be trying to stop the brand new European champions over the festive period, and this song is guaranteed to help spur the boys to victory.
All credit must go to the Reddit thread in which it originated, as so many good things surrounding the club do.
And the tune kinda goes along the lines of Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens.
Manè scoring, All around us…
Kopites singing, having fun
It’s the season of flawless Alisson handling
Merry Christmas, Everton!
To make things even better, one eagle eyed poster commented that it would come just days after the anniversary of Divock Origi’s dramatic injury time winner. A good omen for us all, surely.
The fixture release didn’t spark joy and good tidings everywhere. Liverpool have been handed a tricky end to the campaign as they have to play Newcastle United, Chelsea and Arsenal as the final three games. You don’t want it coming down to the wire there.
On the other hand, the Reds should have a fairly cruisey start to the campaign when they take on newly promoted Norwich City on the 9th of August before playing Southampton, Arsenal and Burnley that month.
That’s an excellent chance for Jurgen Klopp’s side to start the season with four wins in a row and lay a serious marker down for Manchester City and the rest of the chasing pack.
Talking about that opening game of the season, Canaries coach Daniel Farke called Liverpool ‘the toughest opening game you can get,’ but added that his team wasn’t scared.
Maybe they should be.
